Archuleta County was created by the Colorado legislature on April 14, 1885 out of western Conejos County. On the Issues In 1999 I was part of a committee appointed by the Board of County Commissioners to survey the citizens of Archuleta County and determine the opinions and desires of the citizens concerning growth management and zoning. By determining that the majority of the residents of Archuleta County were in favor of zoning, we hoped to start the process of developing a master plan and the codes to implement it.
