Para el caso de la foca de Weddell, Smith (1934) dice haber registrado ejemplares de esta especie en las loberías de Uruguay; sin embargo, según afirmaciones posteriores (Vaz Ferreira, 1965) exista un equívoco y muy posiblemente Smith haya confundido dicha foca con ejemplares jóvenes de elefante marino del sur.

In addition, most fur seals are smaller than sea lions.
The similar social and reproductive behavior of sea lions and fur seals has even led some taxonomists to suggest that the differences between these otariids are not great enough to justify separating them into the subfamilies Otariinae and Arctocephalinae (Repenning 1976; Repenning and Tedford 1977).
Moreover, several instances of hybrid offspring produced by mating of Zalophus (California sea lions) and Arctocephalus have been reported (see, e.g., Mitchell 1968).

The context of the word zub (tooth) generalizes the meaning of most to include anything that "bridges" a gap.
Similarly, in the phrase pel fok, the word pel (fur) expands the meaning of the word fok (seal, member of the genus Phoca) to include all pinnipeds (such as fur seals, members of the subfamily Arctocephalinae).
Can you guess what the phrase simba fok means?
