Arden is a district in Warwickshire, England, near Stratford-upon-Avon.
It was formerly heavily wooded, as the Forest of Arden, the setting for Shakespeare's As You Like It.
Also, probably in reference to the Shakespearean Forest of Arden, a Forest of Arden figures prominently in the Amber series of novels by the late Roger Zelazny where the forest surrounds the City of Amber and is a necessary crossing to get there, usually well guarded.
