Born in Hamedan in 1896, he was the son of Abol Hassan "Bassir Diwan" Zahedi, a wealthy land owner at the city of Hamedan, Fazlollah Zahedi was appointed general of the Iranian army at the age of 25.
Zahedi's family descends from the Sufi mystics Sheikh Zahed Gilani (1216 - 1301) and Sheikh Safi Al-Din Ardebili, the eponym of the Safavid Dynasty.
His son Ardeshir Zahedi, a later politician and diplomat, was to marry Princess Shahnaz Pahlavi, daughter of Muhammad Reza Pahlavi from his first marriage to Princess Fawzia of Egypt, daughter to King Fuad I.

Zahedi then became ambassador to the United States from 1973 until the Iranian Revolution climaxed in January of 1979.

This is not something particulary relevant to Persian as a language, and I understand this site's main focus is learning and teaching it, however, sometimes it may also be interesting to learn something about the culture and history of Iran.
There are stories about the fortune this man must have spent on embassy parties in D.C. in order to provide some other equally sick and decadent folks with caviar, champagne and the like while many people in Iran were extremly poor.
And just at the end of another text about this Ardeshir Zahedi it said:...Ardeshir Zahedi has been living in Switzerland since 1979.
