		Rod Argent, born in 1945 in St Albans, England, was a founding member of the 1960s British pop group The Zombies and the 1970s band Argent.
		In addition to playing piano and keyboard in the group, Rod Argent was the main songwriter, penning the hits "She's Not There", "Tell Her No", and "Time Of The Season", among others.
		After the Zombies split, he went on to form Argent, who had a hit album in 1975 with Hold Your Head Up.

		Argent, born June 14, 1945, had been in the Zombies, a successful British Invasion band known for the 1964 smash "She's Not There" and "Tell Her No," which came out a year later.
		Besides Argent, the band featured Ballard (born October 31, 1947, in Waltham Cross, England), bassist and Argent's cousin Jim Rodford (born July 7, 1945, St. Albans, England) and drummer Bob Henrit (born May 2, 1945, in Broxbourne, England).
		Argent continued to write, scoring an instrumental hit in 1978 with "Argentine Melody", the TV theme for the Argentine World Cup soccer contest, and writing a musical, "Masquerade", which was staged in London.

		The first album received a lot of critical acclaim, but produced no hits, a situation which was repeated when 'Ring of Hands' was recorded in the same studio in 1970 (interestingly, 'Liar' from 'Argent' was covered by 3 Dog Night and became as big hit).
		Rod has always felt that 'Argent' and 'Ring of Hands' were the band's best two albums, even though they are the least known.
		Argent were due to embark on a big tour, and the idea was to promote the new album, which, incidentally, was being recorded at Abbey Road in an attempt to widen and deepen the group's sound.

		Argent has always lacked the small je ne sais quoi to be a major league band but they had their fair shake of success and if they were to reform for a tour, I would go see them for sure.
		Rod Argent s' two great songs on this one, are "Losing Hold" and "Candles on the River".
