Fuller co-edited with Crowley the Argentum Astrum magazine, The Equinox, and is credited also with introducing Crowley and Victor Neuburg, who became Crowley's most dedicated disciple and homosexual lover.

In 1906 Crowley rejoined George Cecil Jones in England, where they set about the task of creating a magical order to continue where the Golden Dawn had left off.

Then in 1910 Crowley was contacted by Theodore Reuss, the head of an organization based in Germany called the Ordo Templi Orientis (O.T.O.).

Notorious British occultist, Aleister Crowley, the so-called "wickedest man in the world," was born on this date in 1875.
A member of numerous secret sects and founder of one known as the "Silver Star" or Argentinum Astrum, Crowley roamed the world preaching his own form of "magick," based upon sex and drugs.
He added the "k" to distinguish his occult ceremonies from stage magic and summed up his philosophy in four words: "Do what thou wilt." Plagued by scandal throughout his adult life, Crowley died bankrupt in 1947.

Glossary - ExWitch Australia (formerly 'Born Again Pagan Ministries')
The Order was based on rituals and grade structures modified only nominally from those of the Hermetic Order of the Golden Dawn, and it incorporated both Inner and Outer Temples.
The Order published a periodical, Equinox, from the spring of 1909 until the onset of World War I. It has been suggested that Crowley used his leadership of the British OTO, the Mysteria Mystica Maxima, as an entry point to Astrum Argentinum and as a means of substantial fee collection for the latter.
The AA was effectively disbanded in 1914, although its members turned their attention to the ritualized grades of OTO until their headquarters were raided and stripped by the Metropolitan Police in 1916.

As far as Satanism was concerned, the closest outward signs of this were the neo-Pagan rites conducted by MacGregor Mathers' Hermetic Order of the Golden Dawn, and Aleister Crowley's later Order of the Silver Star (A.~.

Aside from some rather charming poetry and a smattering of magical bric-a-brac, when not climbing mountains Crowley spent most of his time as a poseur par excellence and worked overtime to be wicked.

By doing so, she has not only provided information on an important contextual element formative to VBN's life and personality, but has also produced another perspective on the contemporary occultism which supplements the work of others such as John Symonds, Francis King, Ellic Howe, Ithell Colquhoun, Israel Regardie, and Kenneth Grant.
Specific events examined include VBN's magical initiation, formation of Crowley's Argentinum Astrum/OTO, Crowley and Neuburg's "Desert Workings" using the Enochian Calls, the "Rites of Eleusis" performances, and "The Paris Working."
The Magical Dilemma of Victor Neuburg was initially published in England in 1965, and never widely distributed in the US; the appearance of this revised edition now offers a chance to obtain a copy of this rare and important book.

In 1906 he had returned to the intensive Abra-Melin magic of his earlier days, resumed his experimentation with drugs, and been recognized by George Cecil Jones as a master magician.
Accordingly Crowley began to work out the details of his own Magical Order, Astrum Argentinum, or Silver Star, and founded its mouthpiece, The Equinox, an ambitious, well-produced periodical dedicated to the serious discussion of the occult arts.
By 1907 Crowley was in search of a following and, looking to Cambridge for potential recruits, simply turned up one day in Victor Neuburg's room at Trinity.

In 1907 Crowley had formed his own occult society called "ASTRUM ARGENTINUM" (Silver Star) after having been kicked out of the well-known occult British order "Golden Dawn." In 1912 he became a member of the Luciferian order OTO, which I have referred to earlier in this newsletter.
