Ariaramnes (Old Persian Ariyâramna, "Peace of the Aryans") was an uncle of Cyrus the Great, probably a great-uncle and perhaps the king of Persia.
Ariaramnes was most likely the brother of Cyrus I of Anshan and son of Teispes but this is not certain.
In an inscription founded in Hamadan is said that he was "king of Persia".

520 BC) was the son of Ariaramnes and perhaps briefly the king of Persia during the Achaemenid dynasty, but gave up the thone and defected to Cyrus II of Persia.
An inscription founded in Hamadan talks about "Arsames, king of Persia", but some believe it is a fraud, modern or ancient.
Another attestation of his reign is the Behistun Inscription, where his grandson Darius I states that eight Achaemenid kings preceded him - and then, he must be counting Arsames as a king.
