MILESAGO - Groups & Solo Artists - Ariel
The original lineup of Ariel was a genuine 'supergroup', combining key members from two of Australia's leading progressive bands of the period: Rudd, Putt and Mills from Melbourne's legendary Spectrum; Gaze and Macara from Spectrum's esteemed Sydney peers Tamam Shud.
Ariel continued gigging into 1976, but their progress was again disrupted in March by the departure of Harvey James, who was headhunted to replace guitarist Clive Shakespeare in Sherbet.
Ariel reformed for occasional gigs with varying lineups, including one final reunion of the Mk II lineup with Harvey James and John Lee, which took place not long before Lee's untimely death in July 1998.

 That other Ariel two-stroke!
Not really an Ariel at all, in that it was not built at the Selly Oak factory, which had closed nearly five years previous.
Why they chose to call it an Ariel is anyone's guess, as enthusiasts of Ariel motorcycles would be unlikely to buy one out of brand loyalty, quite the opposite in fact, and to the general public, at which the product was aimed, Ariel meant only washing powder or cigarettes.
This new vehicle was intended to be mainly sold in Britain, a country where vast numbers of people are almost paranoid in their worries about what the neighbours (or their assumed peer group) will think of them.

Ariel quickly placed the infant back in his bed, then turned to the dresser and shrank to her original faery size, ducking behind the lamp as the door opened.
Ariel kicked at the container in frustration, only to have it waver, then crash to the dresser, coating her with a fine white substance.
Ariel approached the buck without any hesitation and to Rand's surprise, it didn't run, but remained in place until she stood by its head, gazing into its eyes.

Ariel was established in 1870 by James Staley and William Hillman in Birmingham (UK) shortly after they invented the tensioned wire spoke wheel.
This however caused a tail heavy vehicle that would topple backwards in certain situations and so the rear frame was extended so that the engine could sit forward of the rear axle.
The "Ariel 3" was a 3-wheeler not only different to other mopeds at the time for having 3-wheels but it was also a tilting vehicle.

Consequently, the example AOSN includes two EAVE-III vehicles [9], named Ariel and Arista, which we assume are equipped with high-level, artificial intelligence-based mission controllers.
In both of these projects, the number of vehicles was small, the tasks were simple, and the system was not considered to be open: that is, failure of an AUV would terminate that run of the system.
They are homogeneous, so replacement of a lost vehicle is simpler; and they are focused on one task, so their control software can be simpler.

 VERY HOT RODS - January 11, 2006
The vehicle, selling for $35,000 to $70,000 depending on horsepower and extras, is a decided guy car, sporting the "race-bred design" of the Ferraris and Lamborghinis of the 1960s, said Bramscher, who made a fortune in the dot-com boom and, although shopping for investors, is funding most of the privately held company himself.
The first half-dozen vehicles are built, 50 are ordered — Brammo has a point-and-click ordering site online — and inquiries are pushing 10,000, he noted, with about 10 potential customers flying in for test drives each month.
The Ariel Atom’s design is licensed from the British Ariel Motor Car Co. but future models are designed in-house by Brian Wismann, a 25-year-old veteran of Daytona race car body designing, hired from North Carolina, and engineer Michael Sorensen, a local resident who fashions the mechanics of the vehicles.

The first film in what would evolve into the Proletariat Trilogy (along with Ariel and The Match Factory Girl), Shadows in Paradise is a muted, understatedly atmospheric, sublimely realized, and darkly comic romantic fable.
However, his near-perfect life collapses when a chance encounter with one of the muggers is captured on a police surveillance camera at a subway station, and Taisto is arrested.
Inevitably, as the film concludes to the lyrical tune of "Somewhere Over the Rainbow" incongruously sung in Finnish, what emerges is a sharp, incisive, and playfully sinister depiction of modern-day existentialist angst, and the innate comedy of human existence.

In his motion to suppress, Defendant unsuccessfully argued (1) the troopers lacked probable cause to stop his vehicle, (2) the scope of the stop was not reasonably tailored to its underlying purpose, and (3) he did not knowingly and voluntarily consent to the search of his socks.
In Ozbirn we distinguished Gregory and found probable cause justified a traffic stop of a vehicle that drifted onto the shoulder twice within a quarter mile where the weather was sunny and not unusually windy and the road was smooth and dry with only a gentle curve and slight uphill grade.
Although Defendant may lack standing to object to the search of the vehicle's trunk because he did not prove he had lawful possession of the vehicle, Defendant undoubtedly has standing to object to any unlawful detention of his person.
