Soong saw the 19 stolen embryos through to birth, and then raised the children as his own until about the age of 10, around when he was caught and sent to prison.

Soong seems surprised that Malik knows about the Botany Bay at all, but one has to imagine that the augments would be able to piece together the truth from the existing 20th century records of the Eugenics Wars.
Soong believes that his involvement in their upbringing should have overridden the inherent “superior ambition and aggression” programmed into the augment genetic code.

Soong has been jailed for stealing the embryos that became Augments, raising them on a planet in the Trialas System until he was captured a decade ago.
Plus, Soong is familiar with the area the Augments are in — the Borderland — a volatile region between the Klingon Empire and the Orion Syndicate that is a magnet for danger.
Soong then tells Malik to spare Archer and his crew; Soong and the Augments will be too far away from Archer and a damaged Enterprise to be found and caught.

 monkee reviews 'Borderland'
Soong struck me as a dark counterpoint to DS9's Benny Russell, the 50's sci-fi writer (really a vision of Sisko's), who wrote his optimistic tale of an African-American space station commander on the walls of his room in the mental institution when he was denied paper.
Soong is denied electronic recording devices (which he also uses for escape attempts) instead, but he continues to design DNA sequences to improve the human race, writing them out on paper that will just be vaporized by prison personnel.
Soong 'tsk-tsks' sympathetically, and tells Archer that his people are probably being brought to an Orion processing station on a nearby planet to be sold as slaves.

Data - Non-canon Star Trek Wiki - A Wikia wiki
The dream of creating an android like Data dates back to as early as the 22nd century when Dr Arik Soong having failed in improving humanity by means of genetic modification decided to begin development of a cybernetic lifeform (Enterprise episode: The Augments).
He was apparently unsuccessful in the completion of this task, it was not until Arik Soong's descendent Noonien Soong, under the tutelage of Ira Graves (Data's "grandfather") and with the assistance of Juliana Tainer (Dats's "mother") that a fully formed android was created (TNG episodes: The Schizoid Man and Inheritance).
Prior to Data, Dr. Soong created at least two other androids, Data's brothers Lore and B-4, both were considered faulty and were deactivated in favour of the more advanced Data (TNG episode: Datalore and movie/novelization: Nemesis).

Soong and the Augments' self-proclaimed leader Malik (Alec Newman) bear down on the facility's medical director, Dr Jeremy Lucas (Richard Riehle), a Denobulan and good friend of Dr Phlox.

It seems that Soong wants to ignite a war with the Klingons, for reasons unknown; one could guess that he wants to force Earth to see the value in strengthening the human race through genetic engineering.
It’s suggested that Soong chose Malik from afar to take possession of a Klingon ship through force at the right time and place; his surprise was apparently feigned, if the end of the episode is any indication.
As Soong says at one point in the episode, they are in serious need of a sense of humor.

Arik Soong has been incarcerated in a high-security facility after stealing 20 embryos of genetically enhanced humans and bringing them to life.
Soong is very much a "Hannibal Lecter"-type character — he is widely feared, he's constantly trying to escape, and he loves to psychologically toy with everyone he talks to.
A half day was spent in a Starfleet Detention Cell where Archer first approaches Soong, a scene that could go down as one of the most memorable of the entire series.

 Talk:Arik Soong - Memory Alpha - A Wikia wiki
Arik, could quite easily be Noonien's "grandfather" as much as he could be his "great-great grandfather".
"However, it is probably worth noting that in his appearances on Enterprise, there was no indication that Arik Soong had any biological children." There was no indication that he didn't have any children, either.
This article needs major work in several areas, including Soong's relation with the Augments (specifically with Malik), how he was able to help Archer get his crew back, the details of his transponder and his bonds, his time aboard the Klingon ship, and especially how he helped in the destruction of the Augments.

Soong also strongly objects to Malik's plan to seed the atmosphere of a Klingon planet with more disease pathogens, a move which could spark a conflict between the Klingons and Starfleet, keeping both of them too busy to pursue the Augments.

ST Universe Episode Review - Enterprise | Season 4 | Borderland
Firstly, it allows Soong’s character to be fleshed out prior to his involvement with the Augments, which is something that is important to do to fully understand his subsequent interactions with the Augments.
Spiner’s performance as Arik is so different from what he’s done on Trek before that I soon stopped seeing him as “Data’s great-great-grandfather” (or whatever he is) and just accepted him as an interesting character in his own right.
The truth is, it makes no difference to the plot that Arik is a Soong, it’s really nothing more than a way to explain the visual similarities with Spiner’s other roles.

Soong-Type Androids - Star Trek Crackpot Theories   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-11-03)
B4 magically appears in "Nemesis" but appears to be a very rudimentary model, perhaps a precursor to Lore and Data, and we have no way to judge to what degree he will or will not attempt to destroy humanity or simply break.
The other Soong-type android we know about, Soong's putative wife, who calls herself Data's mother, is Dr. Juliana Tainer.
Dr. Tainer does not appear to know that she is an android.

I thought Soong is Noonian Soong's father(and still do) and my dad was arguing that Soong was Noonian Soong but then we went to the Trek site and right there it said Arik Soong so I still have a chance of being right.
I have predicted based on the 2nd episode of the three episode arc that Arik Soong is not pleased with how his children turned out and if he manages not to get killed by Malik(sp) the self proclaimed leader of the augments then he will end up helping Archer either destroy them or capture them.
That's assuming Arik already has a son out there somewhere, and each successive child having the next generation at around when they are 30 years old.
