  Welcome to Arkansas's Central Region on The Worldwide Traveler
The museum is a collecting institution that acquires and stores artifacts relevant to the museum's purpose of educating in the sciences, social sciences and technology.
The center's museum is the largest such history facility in the state and features an outstanding collection of Arkansas-made decorative, mechanical and fine arts objects, plus a living history theater and educational areas.
The museum is located in the historic tower building of Little Rock's Old Arsenal, a National Historic Landmark and the birthplace of General Douglas MacArthur (1880).

The Arkansas Museum of Discovery is located in Little Rock's River Market District (and adjacent to Riverfront Park) at 500 President Clinton Avenue (about one block west of Interstate 30 and at the eastern end of Markham Street).
According to Bill Bradshaw, the museum's executive director, most of the cuts have been absorbed by reducing the number of days the museum is open.
In addition, Bradshaw says the museum has created two new exhibits, "Predators" and "Crime Lab Detective," that will soon be on display at the Museum of Discovery and will eventually be loaned to other similar institutions.

I worked with exhibit developers at the Arkansas Museum of Discovery to edit, refine, and write label copy for Quest, a permanent exhibit about the history of science which would be featured in the new Museum of Discovery.
While wall panels worked well to present general concepts, the museum wanted to provide more in-depth information about certain topics such as relativity and atomic structure.
When a concept is too complex to explain in a wall panel, a multimedia presentation or simple flipbook may be used to provide more in-depth discussion for interested visitors.

An exhibit to promote knowledge about mental health opened Sept. 19 at the Arkansas Museum of Discovery in downtown Little Rock.
The Department of Psychiatry in the College of Medicine at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences sponsored the exhibit, "Mysteries of the Mind: Pathways Into Hope." The department's Partners in Behavioral Health Sciences Program (PIBHS) created the exhibit in collaboration with the museum.
It is the only children's exhibit in the nation focusing exclusively on the science of mental illness.
