Arlit was alive 24 hours a day, with frequent international flights, nightlife, earning it the nickname, “le deuxiéme Paris.” Then came the collapse in uranium prices and the Tuareg rebellion against the central government in Niamey more than 500 miles to the southwest.
Arlit became a shadow of its former self.

Arlit says she was nervous at first because she didn’t want to hold anyone back, but she was able to keep up.

The piste to Arlit was much easier, so we drove on until pretty late.

The road from the south to Timia is rough, particularly near the top of the rise near Timia, but I would think quite passable by motorbike.
I didn't go as far north as Iferouane, or to Arlit.
It is especially the trip from Iferouane to Arlit that "worries" me. Thanks for the hint about the oranges!
