 Derry City Council - Armagh All Ireland Star is appointed District Development Officer for Gaelic Games
Armagh All-Ireland star Barry O’Hagan has been appointed the District Development Officer for Gaelic Games under the auspices of Derry City Council, the Ulster Council of the GAA and the Sports Council for Northern Ireland through their Invest In Sport programme.
He commented:“This position emerged from the aspirations of the Council to develop sport in the Council area through working in partnership with governing bodies of sport such as the Ulster Council of the GAA and the Sports Council for Northern Ireland.
Welcoming the appointment, the Programme Co-ordinator with Derry City Council, Ben Corr said he was delighted that Derry City Council is the first local authority to appoint a District Development Officer for Gaelic Games.

LISPOLE GAA Club has carried out a major field development programme costing in the region of €100,000.
With financial help from the then Roinn Na Gaeltachta the local community with the GAA club as the nucleus developed a magnificent Community Hall and top class GAA pitch of which the community can be very proud to have achieved.
Kerry played the Dubs for the official opening of the pitch and the great Crossmaglen, Co Armagh, team came to play against the Lispole boys as part of the opening ceremony.

Crossmaglen is a small town in South Armagh with a population of approximately two and a half thousand people.
The Crossmaglen history stretches back to the early years of the GAA when they were first known as the Red Hands then as Creggan Rovers before changing to their present name of Crossmaglen Rangers in 1909.
This steady supply of talent to the county teams has continued right up to the present day with Crossmaglen providing the backbone of the Armagh sides which won the All-Ireland Senior Football Championship for the first time in 2002 and the All-Ireland U-21 Championship for the first time against Mayo last year.
