 ArmaLite - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
ArmaLite's first success came shortly after it was founded with the introduction of the AR-5, a survival rifle chambered for the.22 Hornet cartridge.
ArmaLite, originally the ArmaLite Division of the Fairchild Engine and Airplane Corporation, is one of the most influential corporations in the history of 20th century small arms.
The AR-5 (AR stands for ArmaLite) was adopted by the U.S. Air Force as the MA-1 Survival Rifle.

 AR-18 - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Designed by George Sullivan, Arthur Miller and Charles Dorchester at ArmaLite in the early 1960s as a low-cost alternative to their own AR-15, their interest in the design waned when the AR-15 was selected for production by the US Army as the M16.
This time ArmaLite was invited to compete right from the start, and responded with a smaller version of the AR-10 as the AR-15.
Stoner's entry for ArmaLite came too late for official recognition, but his AR-10 was a dramatic improvement on conventional thinking.

 ArmaLite, Inc. :: History
ArmaLite arranged exhaustive tests by the H.P. White laboratory of Belair, Maryland, to verify their claims for the AR-18 with the hope of attaining DOD and State Department endorsement of the rifle toward filling the void existing for a modern combat rifle for friends and allies around the world.
Although ArmaLite itself was unable to reap the full benefit of their work, the ArmaLite design team created innovative designs that still are setting the standard by which new models are evaluated.
ArmaLite is seeking additions or corrections to this record, and is focusing especially hard on participation by previous ArmaLite employees.

 Unofficial tribute to the U.S. Customs Service Shadow Wolves
Armalite's AR-180 had its origins in the 1960s when the company set out to design a light rifle that was simple to produce.
Armalite's change might not be considered an improvement, but like much else of the earlier rifle, the pin was subject to damage.
While it was produced in small numbers, the AR-18 was never adopted by any major military force.
