	Finnish Music Information Centre
		Armas Järnefelt emerged as a composer at the same time as Sibelius, in the 1890s.
		He was an important figure in the early days of Finnish National Romanticism, but he later focused on orchestra conducting and created a notable career as an opera conductor; he was engaged at the Stockholm Opera for almost a quarter of a century.
		Armas was not the only child to leave his mark on the Finnish arts scene: his brother Arvid became a major novelist, and his brother Eero became an important painter.
