Changing American View of the Armenian Question
These issues were never resolved in their entirety by the American missionaries, but the one clear resolution was their decision to protect the Armenians, whom they came to consider as their special wards.
Further demands of the Armenian groups are for reparations to be paid to the survivors and to the heirs of the victims, the return of Western Armenian territories and independence for the Armenian homeland.
American consular officials, for example, were prime witnesses, since the U.S., as was then the practice, had several consuls stationed in the Ottoman Empire--specifically at Aleppo, Kharput, Smyrna, Mersina, and Trebizond--either within the areas of the slaughter or in the path of the deportations.

Armenian Terrorism and the Armenian-American Community
And in both instances, the actions of the Armenian terrorists were supported directly or indirectly by many Armenian-Americans for publicizing their "cause" and reviving an interest about the Armenian question in American public opinion.
The Armenian terrorist campaign against the representatives of Turkey, Turkish-Americans, and friends of Turkey was widely criticized by the U.S. government and in the media.

Action Alert; violence threatens Armenian Genocide Monument in Netherlands (3/3/00)
Whether Armenian, Turk, Rwandan, Greek, Christian, Muslim, Jew -- in the name of all of humanity we ask you to stand fast to your convictions and declare openly and unequivocally that the memorial you are constructing is in commemoration of the terrible and tragic reality that was the Armenian Genocide.
In the wake of and intense round of political pressure from Turkish diplomats in the Netherlands, and fueled by growing anti-Armenian rhetoric from the Turkish government, the "Grey Wolves," a Turkish right-wing and racist organisation, has threatened to destroy an Armenian Genocide memorial recently approved by the Assen municipality in the Netherlands.
The United Nations, the European Parliament, the Association of Genocide Scholars, the Institute on the Holocaust and Genocide (Jerusalem), and the Institute for the Study of Genocide (New York) have unequivocally reaffirmed that the extermination of the Armenians by the Turkish government was a genocide.
