Armin Shimerman (born 5 November 1949) is the actor who was best known in the Star Trek universe for his portrayal of the Ferengi bartender Quark on Star Trek: Deep Space Nine.
Shimerman is married to actress Kitty Swink, who guest starred on twice on DS9, first as Rozahn in season two's "Sanctuary" and then as Luaran in season seven's "Tacking Into the Wind".
Shimerman was on the set of DS9 during a large earthquake in Los Angeles.

Shimerman came to the attention TV fantasy fans as Pascal in the popular 1987-1990 series 'Beauty and the Beast', but he's better known as Quark, the Ferengi bar owner in 'Star Trek - Deep Space Nine', hidden behind an extensive prosthetic makeup that made him the show's least recognisable, but perhaps best-loved, star.
Shimerman appeared in two episodes of 'Star Trek: The Next Generation', including the 1987 episode that introduced the Ferengi, before being cast as a regular on 'Deep Space Nine'.

I had the opportunity to sit down with Armin Shimerman at the Loscon Science Fiction Convention that was held at the Burbank Airport hotel over Thanksgiving weekend.

It's strange, but here actor Armin Shimerman skillfully mimics every character from the "Deep Space Nine" series except his own, that of bar-owner Quark.
It's a page-turner, allthough you know the big lines of how it's going to end (all the main characters still played in seizons to come), it keeps you wowndering, wanting to finish it in one haul (wich was not doable for me, I don't have that much free time).
Armin Shimmerman (the actor who plays Quark), gives the book an extra dimention, because he KNOWS Quark, he's been playing him for years, he knows how the character works, what he can and won't do...
