The band “Armory” was originally shared with a detachment of the 615th MP Criminal Investigation Division; later the 133 Public Affairs Detachment replaced the CID as joint occupants of the facility with the band.
The band’s first two-week summer training camp took place at Fort Knox, with their barracks being located at the site of the Kentucky Military Academy mess hall (as of 1993 when this was written).
Also during this tour the band split into three separate groups – a concert band, a dance band, and a popular rock band, “The Wilderness Road New Breed.” The sub-units of the 202d visited area hospitals and performed for hundreds of handicapped and disabled children.
