In the unique format of Australian national titles for surfing, Selby isn’t actually eliminated from the event yet, she enters the losers round with every surfer having a second chance to progress through to the final – but, being thrown into the rep. round this early is somewhat of a surprise for Selby.
The Junior men’s division also took to the water today and this division certainly highlighted the dominance of the NSW and Queensland teams with seven of the eight qualifiers coming from those states and just Matt Chojnacki from South Australia filling the eight position with all other state surfers immediately relegated to the rep. round.

See Davidson, 85: "One may safely say, I think, that every important term in the Pensées is involved in some kind of semantic paradox." Davidson's comments on Pascal's "nongeometrical way of defining words" help to explain what Pater regards as a puzzling, and disabling, contradiction.
