Mass continued to be celebrated in the Karl Wieland residence until August 1902 and then in the John Wieland home until Nov. 13, 1904, when Mass was celebrated in the new church, with 41 parishioners attending.
Only 23 days after the dedication, Karl Wieland and Almond Fieber were killed by lightning as they looked out Wieland’s barn door at the farm where Mass was formerly celebrated.
