Arnold Ziffel was a fictional character featured in Green Acres, an American situation comedy that was produced by Filmways, Inc. and originally aired on the CBS network from 1965 to 1971.
Arnold was a pig, but he was treated as the son of Fred and Doris Ziffel.

Arnold was the family pet of Fred and Doris Ziffel (Hank Patterson and Barbara Pepper/Fran Ryan), farmers living in the small town of Hooterville.
Arnold could play the piano, drink lime soda from a straw, deliver letters from the mail box, turn the channels on the television (he loved to watch THE CBS EVENING NEWS with Walter Cronkite), predict weather with his curly tail, and play cricket with his own miniature cricket bat.
The original Arnold the pig (a male) was a Chester White pig from Indiana who was later replaced by other Arnold substitutes.

ziffel was obviously from the Ozarks at one time, and certainly a pig as smart as Arnold must have come from there.
