 Pribram
The first recorded reference to Pribram occured in 1216, when the estate of Pribram was sold to a bishop from Prague, Ondrej II, by the abbot of the monastery in Tepla.
In the 14th century, during the reign of Charles IV, the Archbishop of Prague, Arnost of Pardubice, built a small stone keep in the town which became the basis for the later larger castle, as well as a church dedicated to St. John.
Another important event in the 14th century was the building of a chapel on the nearby Holy Mountain (Svata hora), which became a very popular destination for pilgrims, especially after the Jesuits took it over in 1647 and renovated it in Baroque style.
