But 80 Days 's extensive list of cameos is the most fun--from Owen and Luke Wilson as the bickering Wright brothers to Rob Schneider as a malodorous San Franciscan hobo to Arnold Schwarzenegger as a Arabian prince (please tell me he made this before he became California's governor).
Minus all the silly songs, 80 Days is splashy family fare reminiscent of such films as Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory and the original 1967 Doctor Dolittle (you know, the one with a giant pink sea snail).
Around the World in 80 Days suffices as a distracting piece of summer fluff, sure to delight most of the family as well as fans of Jackie Chan.

Jules Verne might have a hard time recognizing his source material in the Jackie Chan action-comedy adaptation of "Around the World in 80 Days," but for non-purists, it's easy to forgive the many liberties taken in this funny, fleet-footed summer-matinee romp.
More importantly, the fun clearly being had by the cast is downright contagious, and Jackie Chan is in top form as a comedian (no one in the world does a funnier startled double-take), as a martial artist and as a fight choreographer.

Around the World in Eighty Days may have its faults and lost some of its original allure, but it remains a sure-bet even today.
The movie is little more than a glorified travelogue, with a whole lot of beautiful and exotic settings (filmed largely on location around the world), a few totally random adventures, and the biggest cast of cameos ever assembled for a motion picture thrown together in a gargantuan three-hour block.
Incidentally, the film was known in the U.S. as "Around the World in 80 Days," the number expressed as an arabic numeral, not as a word, and it's the way the title is presented on all of WB's documentation.

For 'Around the World in 80 Days' bears little resemblance to either of them.
It's got some holes in the plot, it's a little overly-cartoony in places, and it sometimes feels a bit rushed (80 days are, after all, a heckuva lot to squeeze into two hours) - but I had a better time at this one than I've had at many of this year's releases.

While Around the World in 80 Days may not be one of Verne’s greatest works, it is certainly worthwhile and is a story that can still enthrall all ages -- though not quite as much as in the past, especially since the story is no longer any form of science fiction, but instead science fact.
A concept understood within many religions of the world, it should especially be a reminder to the Christians of our planet, who are called to truly care about the people their God has already loved.
