		It is a quite typical portuguese municipal flag, with the coat of arms centered on a background quarterly (meaning town rank) of white and purple.
		Interesting that the tapestry industry is not represented in the arms, since it is by far the main reason why Arraiolos is known.
		Arraiolos municipality had 7672 inhabitants in 2000 (8080 in 1990), and it is divided in 7 communes, covering 684 km²;.

		Arraiolos teria sido um dos locais de acolhimento de famílias mouriscas, que depois de 1496, foram expulsas da mouraria de Lisboa por ordem de D. Manuel I. Segundo o mesmo autor, algumas dessas famílias rumaram para Espanha, outras para o Norte de África.
