One kilometer from Arronches, a town which is included in the book "The Most Beautiful Towns and Villages of Portugal", this Alentejo monte is located about 130 miles east of Lisbon by freeway or, for a leisurely day, secondary roads.
In the process of restoration, this olive farm is expected to be completed by the fall/2006.
This farm is 1 kilometer from Arronches, about 20 minutes from the city of Elvas and its Roman aqueduct, and 20-30 minutes from the city of Portalegre and Castelo de Vide.

New single zircon U-Pb geochronological data for the Barreiros tectonised granitoids that outcrop on the southern border of the Tomar Cordoba Shear Zone (TCSZ) and the migmatitic gneisses that outcrop within the core of this same shear zone, near Arronches, are presented.
The study indicates a Middle Cambrian to Lower Ordivician age for the Barreiros tectonised granitoids and a Palaeoproterozoic age for the Arronches migmatitic gneisses as well as a TCSZ-wide tectonothermal event in the Middle Ordovician.
Tentative geochemical signatures for protolith nature and tectonic setting indicate a probable basic protolith for both amphibolites and banded amphibolites although the textures preserved in the banded amphibolites may also indicate a sedimentary-tuffaceous origin.

It is said she was engaged to marry Brafma, the prince of Arronches (in those days known as Arucci Vetus).
As he was on his way to Moura (then called Arucci Nova) he was killed in an ambush set up by a group of Christian knights, led by the brothers Alvaro and Pedro Rodrigues.

This explains the marriage of Dinis and Isabel, the saintly queen, daughter of Pedro III, as well as the talks which the kings of Portugal and Castile held in Sabugal in July, 1287.
The purpose of the talks was to coordinate the action to be taken against their respective rebels: Prince Alfonso and Álvar Núñez de Lara, Arronches being their impregnable base of operations.
At these talks the double marriages of their respective children were planned: the Portuguese heir, Alfonso, with Beatriz; the Castilian heir, Fernando, with Constanza.
