The Art Ross Memorial Trophy is given to the National Hockey League player with the most points scored at the end of the regular season.
The trophy is named in honour of Arthur Howie "Art" Ross (January 13, 1886-August 5, 1964), who was an ice hockey player, referee, coach, and manager.
Ross played defence for 14 years, and was on two Stanley Cup winners -- with the Kenora Thistles in 1907 and the Montreal Wanderers in 1908.

Art Ross, former manager-coach of the Boston Bruins, presented this trophy to the NHL in 1947 to be awarded annually to the player who leads the league in scoring over the regular schedule.
The trophy, unveiled during the NHL's All-Star Weekend at Tampa in January 24, 1999, is made of wood, silver, brass and bronze, stands approximately 26 inches in height and weighs 30 pounds.
The trophy was presented by the NHL Writers' Association in 1968 to commemorate the late William Masterton, a player of the Minnesota North Stars, who exhibited to a high degree the qualities of perseverance, sportsmanship, and dedication to hockey.
