New genre public education Art Journal - Find Articles
Art educators such as Ronald Neperud and Donald Krug likewise advocate a culturally responsive approach to education that emphasizes "community orientation, recognizes diversity as a force in the lives of people, and investigates the formation of interests, satisfaction, practices, and values in the construction of the maker's cultural identity."(4)
Reconceptualizing art education as cultural criticism is a social-based pedagogy that can be fostered by the inclusion of new genre public art into the studio curricula.
Such instruction encourages students to conceptualize new art forms, engage the community in projects that are socially constructive, and recognize art making as an intellectual, scholarly endeavor.

Art History: Journal of the Association of Art Historians - Journal Information
Art History is a refereed journal that publishes essays and reviews on all aspects, areas and periods of the history of art, from a diversity of perspectives.
Moving between broader accounts of the impact of Enlightenment philosophy in shaping an understanding of the 'decorative arts' and case studies of silks, furniture and architecture, it illuminates the material worlds of consumers from the extravagance of the court to the more modest tastes of middle-class families.
A distinguished group of art historians reflect on the work of Michael Baxandall both in terms of its importance for their own formation, and its location in the development of a new art history on the one hand and the broader languages and theories of contemporary cultural theory on the other.

The Art-Journal, 1850-1880: Antiquarians, the Medieval Revival, and The Reception of Pre-Raphaelitism
Wornum began his "Modern Moves in Art" (1850), which juxtaposes Gothic architecture and the Pre-Raphaelite Brotherhood, by firmly nailing his colors to the mast: "Progress be our motto" (12.269), he asserts, before going on to wonder at the "remarkable.
The writer argued that this school "breathes in the spirit of its works the miserable asceticism of the darkest monastic ages; and exhibits in their execution quite the extremest littleness of style that ever disfigured the works of any of the early middle-age masters" (12.271).
According to Wornum, the main flaw in the young men's conception of art was this wasteful archaism: "disregarding the fruits of the earnest and skillful labour of ages, it goes back to the puerile achievement of the infants of Art" (12.271).

ORIGIN AND DEVELOPMENT OF ROBOTIC ART
One of the most problematic issues of robotics in art is the very definition of what a robot is. Complicating matters, on the one hand, we have mythological traditions of various cultures.
While the debate on the use of computers in art at the time revolved around the creation of still or sequential images, and the use of static or mobile plotters to produce such images, Ihnatowicz merged software-based parametric behavior with hardware presence in a real space as he introduced the first computer-controlled robotic artwork.
As a consequence of my own desire to push telecommunications art into a more physical domain, since the 1980s I have been developing what I call telepresence art, coupling robotics and telecommunications into new forms of communicative experiences that enable participants to project their presence into a geographically distant place.
