 | | ARTag is not based on ARToolkit at all (other than in spirit), the markers look similar but all else is different. |
 | | ARTag uses a different method for identifying the borders that dosen't need a threshold (using edge segments instead of thresholding/morphology) that is more robust to lighting variation, occlusion - plus robust digital communication algorithms are used so you never get false detections or confusion between markers. |
