Kittie and their producer, Garth Richardson, have filed suit against the band's record company, Artemis Records, in the United States District Court for the Southern District of New York, citing numerous counts of breach of contract.
Artemis is led by Chairman Danny Goldberg, Co-chairman Michael Chambers, and President Daniel Glass.
The band and producer made the decision to file the lawsuit after their auditing company, McGladrey and Pullen, reported that the band was owed nearly $900,000 in royalties and other compensation in accordance with the current contract's prescribed accounting methods.

It also says Artemis "[failed] to execute almost every element of [the Boston marketing] plan," and claims that the success of the band's summer tour is in jeopardy due to the label's failure to properly promote the album.
