Arthur Baker is one of the few producers who can actually lay claim to having changed dance music history.
Arthur was introduced to long time partner John Robie and together with the Soul Sonic Force they embarked on the voyage of sonic discovery which gave an unsuspecting world "Planet Rock", the first electronic hip hop that had seismic effect as electro-funk was born and New York City became an 808 state.
Arthur, Tim and Rick (Ash's drummer) went into Mute's studios to record a quick rock version, and out came (after a bit of work in Arthur's laptop), a hot dance rock fusion which would fit quite well in a set surrounded by The Killers, The Bravery, Franz Ferdinand and The Rapture.

At the same time as Kraftwerk were wiring their skin to their synthesizers, a Tirolian, journeyman musician was experimenting with new sound technology.
He defined ambient music as a "tint" or a "perfume"; something that "could be listened to just as easily as it could be ignored." With ever-more sophisticated recording technology available, the re-emergence of ambient music led to a return of the exploration of environmental sounds first proposed by Russolo and Cage almost a century earlier.

With help from dance producer Arthur Baker and Rings musician Michael Baker, Face to Face craft their first and best of three albums (four, if you include the Streets Of Fire soundtrack).
Though Jimmy Iovine, Gordon Perry, and Michael Baker produce four of the songs, it is the two by Arthur Baker which resonate loud and clear.
That probably led to Baker's producing eight of the ten tracks with Ed Stasium on the follow-up album, Confrontation, an album which had three producers and Bob Clearmountain mixing, but no songs as memorable as the three noted in this review from the band's debut.

Germany, he established his own studio, Musicland, and recorded his debut single "Looky, Looky" in 1969; his first LP, Son of My Father, was released in early 1972.
Around that time Moroder was introduced to fellow aspiring musician Pete Bellotte, with whom he formed a production partnership; in collaboration with singer Donna Summer, the duo was to become one of the most powerful forces in '70s-era dance music, their success beginning with the release of 1974's Lady of the Night.
Summer's Love to Love You Baby followed in 1975; the title track, clocking in at close to 17 minutes in length, was an international smash, its shimmering sound and sensual attitude much copied in the years to follow.
