Arthur M. Blank was born in the Queens borough of New York City in 1942 to Molly and Max Blank.
One of Blank's first decisions as owner was to move the team's home games for the 2005 season from the Gwinnett Arena in Gwinnett County to the Philips Arena in downtown Atlanta, where the team played its inaugural season in 2002.
Blank chairs the capital campaign to fund the new Atlanta Symphony Center for performances of the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra, and he was cochair for a similar campaign to construct the Centennial Olympic Games Museum at the Atlanta History Center in Buckhead.
