Marguerite Radclyffe Hall was born in Bournemouth, Dorset in 1880, to a wealthy philandering father and quarrelsome mother.
Hall was a lesbian, and described herself as a "congenital invert," a term taken from the writings of Havelock Ellis and other turn of the century sexologists.

The Canterbury Hall, as it was originally called, proved so popular that in 1854 Morton was able to replace it by the larger New Canterbury Music-Hall, which had a large platform stage and accommodation for 1,500 people.
When the popularity of the 'halls' began to decline, drastic reductions in the price of seats brought audiences back for a while; but the heyday of the music-hall had long been over before the Canterbury was destroyed by bombing in 1942.

Arthur Charles Erickson CC (born June 14, 1924, in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada) is an internationally celebrated Canadian architect.
Erickson has been quoted as saying that "concrete is the marble of the 20th century." Additionally, Erickson is also known for numerous futuristic designs such as the Fresno City Hall and the Biological Sciences Building at the University of California, Irvine.
The personal selection of Arthur Erickson as the architect for the Canadian Embassy in Washington, DC by then-Canadian Prime Minister Pierre Trudeau was controversial because Trudeau overruled the objections and choices of the embassy's design committee.

 Chicopee City Hall History
The architectural design was done by Charles Edward Parker of Boston and has many similarities to the design of the Palazzo Vecchio in Florence, Italy after which it was intentionally patterned.
A large hall on the second floor used to seat 900 persons, and is frescoed with stained glass windows.
When Chicopee dedicated its City Hall on December 21, 1871, the town's 72 young men who had died in the Civil War were foremost in the citizens' minds.

During late 1891, the arrival of electricty in St. Charles and the construction of a City Hall were the topics of great interest and debate.
In January 1892, Charles Haines, a local businessman and former Mayor, presented the city of St. Charles with a parcel of land at Second and Main Streets.
The City Hall served as the base for the electric utility until 1924 when the city's capacity to generate the electricity had been reached.

There was a two-story prayer hall, 32 by 40 feet, at the rear of the central projection, and a library on the second floor above the main entrance hall.
The old prayer hall, no longer needed for that purpose since the erection of a separate chapel, was extended further southward to more than twice its previous size for use as the College library.

The south-facing concave surfaces of the towers are glazed, heating the offices beyond the capabilities of their air conditioning in summer; while the larger convex walls are the core of the building's structure, formed entirely from ribbed concrete, with no window openings.

The Music Hall founded by Andrew Carnegie opened on May 5, 1891, with a concert featuring the American debut of Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky, and was at once heralded as a triumph for music and architecture.
Although many wanted to save the Hall, and several committees to help rescue it were formed, it was only at the eleventh hour that the Committee to Save Carnegie Hall, headed by Isaac Stern, was able to stop the impending demolition.
In 1987, the Recital Hall was renamed Joan and Sanford I. Weill Recital Hall at Carnegie Hall in recognition of the long-standing generosity and support of current Carnegie Hall Chairman Sanford I. Weill and his wife.

Stout piloted Hall of Fame horse Johnstown to victory in the 1939 Kentucky Derby and Belmont Stakes, but considered 1936 Horse of the Year Granville his best mount.
