Arthur Chichester, 1st Marquess of Donegall (June 13, 1739 - January 5, 1799) was an Irish nobleman.
He was educated at Trinity College, Oxford before succeeding his uncle in 1757 as fifth Earl of Donegall.
The following year he was also created Marquess of Donegall and Earl of Belfast in the Peerage of Ireland.

Ironically, Sir Arthur Chichester was a maternal relation of my mother - she was 9 x great-granddaughter through descent from the Anglo-Irish families of Kerry of his nephew, Sir John Chichester of Raleigh, who inherited the Devon estates of the family.
She may have been godmother to some of Lucy Chichester's children, who was her second cousin and which may be the reason the name Dorcas was used among Lucy's descendants.

He was educated in England, matriculating at Brasenose College, Oxford in 1815, and entered the British Army, serving with the 2nd Life Guards and eventually attaining the ranƙ of Lieutenant Colonel in 1827.
In 1826 Chichester was elected British Whig Party Member of Parliament for Milborne Port, a seat he held for four years before becoming representative for County Wexford in 1830.
The following year, on the occasion of the coronation of William IV of the United Kingdom, he was created Baron Templemore, of Templemore in the County Donegal.
