Corbett v Corbett - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The case of Corbett v Corbett of February 1970 set a legal precedent regarding the status of transsexuals in the United Kingdom.
It began as a divorce case at a time when the UK didn't regognise mutual consent as reason enough to dissolve a marriage, so Arthur Corbett sought a method of dissolving his marriage to the model April Ashley without the issue of inheritance rights.
His case was brought under the premise that, as Ms Ashley was born male (and should therefore be treated as male in perpetuity despite her change of sex) the marriage was illegal.

However, this was not legally tested until the case of Corbett v Corbett, where Arthur Corbett attempted to annul his marriage to April Ashley on the grounds that transsexuals were not recognised in English law.
Ormord J found that since Ashley had male gonads, genitalia and chromosomes at birth, her "true sex" was male at the time of her birth, and that her "true sex" could not be changed.
English law had decided, in the case of Corbett v Corbett (1971), that sex reassignment would not be recognized for purposes of marriage.

Corbett draws a distinction between this flexible “free market” approach, where front line commanders use technology to influence their tactical situation, and highly centralized methods, where all data passes through a central staff before lower echelons can act upon it.
Corbett notes that the center is vigorously pursuing this concept in addition to the related ability of streaming data across what he refers to as the last tactical mile—battalion-size units and below.
Corbett concurs, noting that blindly emphasizing information or knowledge superiority as a silver bullet ignores an enemy’s intelligence and breeds hubris.

 CORBETT vs. CORBETT: RE-EXAMINED -- M.Italiano paper
On February 2, 1970, in so granting a decree of nullity to Arthur Corbett for his primary claim that his wife, post-operative transsexual April Ashley was a male at the time of the marriage, and for his secondary claim that she could not consummate the marriage, the court failed this test miserably.
However, a careful re-examination of the decision, known as Corbett vs. Corbett (otherwise Ashley), with a recapitulation of the details found in the judgement, delivered by Sir Justice Ormrod, leave no other conclusion: motives of bigotry, not those of scientific merit, or of sound logic were responsible for the outcome.
On careful re-examintaion of the Corbett vs. Corbett (otherwise Ashley) decision we are faced with five striking distortions found in the decision.

Revelations about April didn't deter the Honourable Arthur Corbett, a married nightclub owner, son of the chief scout and, as the future Lord Rowallan, the heir to a 2340-hectare estate.
In 1970, Corbett sued for an annulment of the marriage on the grounds that April was a person of the male sex.
The case caused a sensation and changed British law when Lord Justice Ormrod decreed that although April had a passport and driving licence describing her as a woman, the Corbett marriage was null and void because she had been born a male.

Welcome to the Best of New Orleans! Film Review 10 14 03
No cooler spot: Arthur Franz, Helene Stanton and Michael Granger in a scene at the old Pontchartrain Beach arcade in the 1955 B-movie, New Orleans Uncensored.
Favoring gimmickry over artistry, Castle was known for pulling promotional stunts for his films: taking out insurance policies for faint-of-heart movie-goers for 1958's The Macabre, installing vibrating devices underneath random seats in moviehouses to hype 1959's The Tingler, and providing special viewing glasses for the optical effects in 1960's 13 Ghosts.
New Orleans Uncensored (aka Riot on Pier 6) features no such apparent hyping techniques and maybe could have used them, as it explores the story of idealistic longshoreman Dan Corbett (Arthur Franz), who dreams of owning his own modest boat, and the corruption that compromises his professional and romantic lives.
