The county seat grew slowly and in 1895 there were but two buildings in the town, the courthouse and the home of the county treasurer, which also housed the county's only newspaper, the McPherson County News.
The population of the county jumped from 517 in 1900 to 2,470 in 1910.
County officers found it difficult to conduct their duties satisfactorily under such conditions, but the voters were opposed to issuing bonds or a better dwelling.

On 27 August 1906, Arthur Selleck and Julia Selleck husband and wife of Cloud County sold to Walter Selleck of Mitchell County in consideration of $6,000, 160 acres consisting of the SE of Section 5, Township 7, Range 8 West by Warranty Deed.
Arthur and Walter dug up their father's remains on the farm where he was buried May 1871 and reburied him beside their mother in the Simpson Cemetery.

Arthur E. Grant was killed in action, south of Soissons, France, near the Soissons-Paris road, in the 2nd Battle of the Marne (July 18-22, 1918), on July 20, 1918.
Arthur E. Grant was later reburied on November 3, 1918 in an American cemetery, at Ploisy, in Aisne County, France, and was disinterred on January 12, 1922 and brought back to the United States.
Arthur E. Grant was finally buried in March 1922, in Grandview Cemetery, Grandview, Johnson County, Texas, in the Marr family plot, next to his mother and stepfather, Linnie Alice Reynolds Grant Marr and Thomas Calloway Marr.

Arthur violated SCR 20:8.4(c) by deceiving the court." He reiterates his position "that the decision of the Juneau County Court in Case No. 95 CV 182 must be considered void because of Attorney Schmukler's misconduct." However, this is not an appeal from the Juneau County court decision.
