They broke away from a group of eight prisoners who were walking unsupervised to a medical centre in the prison at about 12.30pm (AEDT).
Corrective Services Minister Judy Spence announced an investigation into the security breach as prison officials said the group was never a danger of escaping or harming prison staff or other prisoners.
