Ramsay MacDonald and the Rise of Labour - Kenneth O. Morgan
In fact, along with Keir Hardie, the matchless evangelist and crusader, and Arthur Henderson, architect of the ‘movement’ and organiser of its links with the trade unionists, MacDonald can reasonably be considered one of the Labour party’s three major founding fathers.
Arthur Henderson, another major figure, was more of a trade unionist than a parliamentarian.
He immediately lost his chairmanship of the Labour party in favour of Henderson; he was expelled from many public bodies; he received white feathers (a sign of cowardice) through the post and was physically threatened.

Private Equity Week   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-11-07)
Many VC firms now are recomending that seed-stage and Series A deals get kept under wraps until the portfolio company secures some customers and hits various product milestones (often coinciding with a Series B round).
I spoke to someone from a particularly active in seed-stage and early-stage fundings, who says that while his firm reports many of its deals as "confidential," it continues to report the same percentage of deals as it did in 2003, 2002, etc. (the firm typically does not report anything under $1 million).
In particular, the argument is made that VC disbursement data may be artificially low right now, due to an increased emphasis on keeping early-stage companies in stealth mode.

The outpatient dialysis center business is an attractive proposition with promise for handsome financial returns.
But there are pitfalls, says Arthur Henderson, senior equity research assistant with Jefferies & Co. "I think the problem I have seen in the dialysis segment is that it's highly consolidated and the opportunities to acquire new centers is somewhat more difficult," he says.
But with big players like Renal Care and California-based DaVita Inc. (NYSE: DVA) in the acquisition market, the demand for dialysis centers is high, creating a tough pricing range.

A Critical Discography of Woody Shaw
Woody's and Henderson's progressive styles are perhaps not the perfect complements to Silver's funkier niche, but the mixture of the two sounds great to this author.
The Penguin guide, on the other hand, lumps Woody together with a number of sidemen described as "typical Silver horns", further asserting that "only Johnson and Henderson [on the records of this period] threaten to be something rather more special".
The two Joe Henderson originals are labelled with unusual titles of unknown origin: track "Punjab" is labelled "Lofty", and track "Power to the People" is labelled "What's Mine Is Yours".
