While victorious, Arthur is mortally wounded and "carried off to the Isle of Avalon for his wounds to be attended to." Leaving his end in doubt, Geoffrey continues the story no further.
Geoffrey is not known for his historical responsibility, but he basically regards Arthur's tale as a part of the fifth century due to the familial relationships drawn and several corroborations with known history such as references to Emperor Leo, a contemporary of Arthur who reigned from 457-74.
Henry II's grandson was named with the hope of crowning him Arthur II someday (cut short by John in 1203).

Just as in Arthur's Knights: Tales of Chivalry, you have the choice in Arthur's Knights II: The Secret of Merlin to play Bradwen as the Celtic warrior, raised in the Celtic tradition with Druidic beliefs, or as the Paladin King, raised in the Roman tradition and the Christian faith.
Even though most of the locations you visit are the same in both paths (Magovenium, the destroyed Roman city, is only in the second), and you have the same goal of lifting the curse, there is so much that is different that you feel as if you are getting two games in one.
The user interface employed by Arthur's Knights II is not intuitive, as adventure game players are far more used to using mouse point-and-click action to get from place to place.

While Arthur's Knights allows players to revisit certain locations while trying to figure out what needs to be done next, there still isn't anything to do because unless an object can be picked up, there's no information to be learned from it.
