ArthurVereHarvey, BaronHarvey of Prestbury CBE (31 January 1906–5 April 1994) was a British Conservative politician, and Member of Parliament (MP) for 26 years.
Harvey was elected as Member of Parliament for Macclesfield in 1945, and held the seat in seven further general elections.
In the Commons, Harvey was chairman of the backbench 1922 Committee from 1966-1970.
The constituency covers the eastern part of the Borough of Macclesfield in Cheshire, containing the town of Macclesfield itself and the area surrounding it, such as Bollington and Prestbury, as well as Disley and Poynton.
Much of the constituency is commuter territory for Manchester, with affluent villages such as Prestbury.
Following their review of parliamentary representation in Cheshire, the Boundary Commission for England have made minor changes to the existing arrangement as a consequence of population changes.
