Artistic License is a group of dedicated professional artisans, whose work continues time-honored traditions of crafts for the built environment.
Artistic License began in San Francisco in 1982 as an idea of an artisan named Jim Gibson, who at the time specialized in wood refinishing for old buildings.
Artistic License today largely retains the focus and activities of its beginnings twenty five years ago.

The Artistic License is a software license used for certain free software packages, most notably the standard Perl implementation, most of CPAN modules and Parrot, which are dual-licensed under the Artistic License and the GNU General Public License (GPL).
There exists an Artistic License 2.0, which was written in response to a Perl community request for comments, which everyone agrees is a free software license.
The license was written by Bradley Kuhn, then working for Free Software Foundation, and seems to be scheduled for adoption by the standard Perl implementation when version 6 is released.

In my state, we have a single Creative License to cover all works of art (verbal, written, visual, etc.), and the license is easily renewed at the same time one renews a driver's license or a conceal-carry permit.
