Artur Rodzinski (January 1, 1892 - November 27, 1958) was a Polish conductor.
He was born in Split (today in Croatia) of Polish parents.
In 1914, his father sent his family to Vienna, where Artur continued to study law, as well as enrolling in the Academy of Music.

Artur Rodzinski was an outstanding symphony conductor, and no one understood that more than Rodzinski himself.
Rodzinski had reason to be proud: After all, he'd conducted the prestigious Los Angeles Philharmonic, the Cleveland Orchestra, the New York Philharmonic and the Chicago Symphony.
Rodzinski didn't much care for Sevitzky but he tuned in anyway and was most surprised to find Sevitzky doing a marvelous job.

Throughout his career Rodzinski was noted for his interpretations of Russian music.
Rodzinski follows this practice and that’s a cause for regret because the music that is played comes across very well indeed.
That said, we could be listening to Stokowski and his Philadelphians and I can’t pay Rodzinski a higher compliment than that where this music is concerned.

After being brought to the United States in 1925 by Leopold Stokowski to guest conduct the Philadelphia Orchestra., Artur Rodzinski (1892-1958) became one of the most important figures on the American orchestral scene.
Rodzinski wasn't very easy to get along with; his tenure as Music Director of the New York Philharmonic, which began in 1943, lasted only four years after which he went to Chicago where he lasted less than a year because of his inability to compromise.
It is a strangely perverse performance that I find highly powerful, particularly the Allegro vivo development section of the first movement which ends with searing brass punctuation couched in a huge mass of rich strings.

In 1931, the orchestra moved from the Cleveland Masonic Temple into Severance Hall.
(The hall was restored and renovated in 1999 and reopened in 2000.) Sokoloff was succeeded as conductor by Artur Rodzinski (1933–43) and Erich Leinsdorf (1943–44), but the orchestra's peak of fame was achieved under the direction of George Szell (1946–70).
