In the case of Arviat, two consecutive decreases were measured from 1998 to 2003 and from 2003 to 2005.
Arviat ringed seal samples showed an increase in PFCA concentration from 1992 to 2005, whereas PFOS and PFOSA concentrations increased from 1992 to 1998 and subsequently declined from 1998 to 2005 (Figure 1, table in Supporting Information).
Arviat doubling times (1992-1998) for PFOS and PFOSA were 3.0 ± 1.3 and 3.4 ± 1.7 years, whereas disappearance half-lives (1998-2005) for PFOS and PFOSA were 3.2 ± 0.9 and 2.0 ± 0.6 years.

When the vessel was approximately 10 nautical miles south of Arviat, the crew reported that the vessel was taking on water and that the bilge pumps were not working.
At approximately 2330, as the vessel came into radio range of Arviat, the captain initiated a series of radio calls, on CB radio Channel 14, advising a relative that the crew were on deck re-securing cargo that had come loose and that they expected to arrive in Arviat at 0200 the next morning.
Actual wind reports taken from the Arviat airport show that, during the evening of August 24, winds were 10 to 15 knots from the southwest veering westward at 2200.

The Hamlet of Arviat issued the press release last week to protest the Nunavut Housing Corp.'s decision to handle the tendering process by itself.
The housing corporation cited a number of reasons for the decision, including a lack of staff, the fact that its budget had not been approved in the legislature when the tender call was made.
But the Hamlet of Arviat is worried that not as many Arviat residents may be employed in the construction of the six social housing units slated for Arviat, because the NNI only calls for 30 per cent Inuit employment, while the hamlet government's contracting rules call for 80 per cent.
