In 1972, he was appointed President of Aryamehr University by the Shah of Iran.
Aryamehr University was then the leading scientific and technical university in Iran and the Shah, as the patron, wanted Professor Nasr to develop the university on the model of M.I.T. but with firm roots in Iranian culture.
Nasr's pioneering effort has led Aryamehr to create one of the first graduate programs in the Islamic world in the philosophy of science based upon the Islamic philosophy of science, some ten years ago.

aryamehr was never as strong as his father and it was him who censored the press so no one could hurt his feelings.
I think the Iranian nation away of any kind of prejeduce feelings think obviously that Aryamehr was a strong king and as the western called him the ventral power of middle east and the reason of peace in middle east too!
And I think the only mistake of aryamehr was this: that he didn t kill the protesters in the streets because he Loved his nation!

 Sharif University of Technology - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The university is located in Tehran, not far from the Azadi Square and is named after Majid Sharif Vaghefi, a former student who was killed in 1975.
The university was first founded in 1965 with the name Aryamehr Technical University by Dr. Mohammad Ali Mojtahedi (محمد علی مجتهدی).
In 1972, Mohammad Reza Pahlavi appointed the world renowned scholar Sayyed Hosein Nasr as president of the university with the goal of modeling the school based on the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, but with roots in Iranian culture.
