		Lambesis has always seen AS I LAY DYING as a metal band that still has a great deal of punk and hardcore influence in both their music and ethics, something that also draws different people to the band.

		But I mainly listened to hardcore bands growing up and then when I started As I Lay Dying, I wanted to do something different, which at the time was more of a metal sound - and it's ironic that now every single band is a metal band.

		The San Diego metal act with the Swedish flavor- As I Lay Dying- did Ozzfest last summer, Taste of Chaos this past winter, and are gearing up to headline the annual metal smorgasbord- Sounds of the Underground- this summer.
		I think a combination is great, but we're never going to be a band like Slipknot or Gwar where the majority of the show is the image of the bands...
		There's just some bands that have grown around the same time as us like Killswitch Engage for instance, that may be a couple years ahead of us, and that have not only become great musicians but also great friends.

		With all the hype surrounding As I Lay Dying and their most recent release "Shadows Are Security", I had to check them out.
		And just like Atreyu, Trivium, and many of the other countless bands to emerge in the recent "metal-core" wave, As I Lay Dying is far from being anything special, and once you've heard it, the feeling of "I've heard this before and heard it done better" will be plenty apparent.
		Still, how did this band get so famous, they might've gotten famous from "Forever" and "94 Hours", I couldn't believe that this band is voted as the band of the year of San Diego and the Ultimate Metal God.
