Sulaymaniyah (Arabic: السليمانية‎ as-sulaymānīyä; Kurdish: Silêmanî, historic: Sharezûr) is a city in the east of Iraqi Kurdistan.
It is situated in the northeast of Iraq, and is the capital of Sulaymaniyah Governorate, part of the Kurdish Autonomous Region (Kurdistan Region in the new Iraqi Constitution [1]).
Sulaymaniyah was the city Bahá'u'lláh, founder of the Bahá'í Faith, came to live in during his sojourn to the mountain of Sar-Galú in Kurdistan.

If you have the chance to visit As Sulaymaniyah it doesn’t take you long to realize that it is a region set apart from the rest of Iraq, even the electricity grid is separate.
The local As Sulaymaniyah electric workers were then able to set up to receive the generators and determine how to attach them to the distribution grid.
One of the As Sulaymaniyah officials involved was very pleased with the American effort to provide the generators.

There was not an Iraqi flag in sight across the Kurdish self-rule region yesterday as Kurds went to the polls, many saying they were voting to preserve their de facto independence from Baghdad.
Election officials in the self-rule provinces of Dohuk, Irbil and Sulaymaniyah estimated a turnout of 75%-80%, while in the contested city of Kirkuk, which has a large Kurdish population, polling was described as "huge".

The puppet administration of the northern Iraqi city of as-Sulaymaniyah announced that deadly bird flu was spreading in a number of areas of the city, in particular the areas of Bashdar, Batwin, Shanakhsi, and Safah Asus.
The puppet “Minister of Health” of the Kurdistan region, Muhammad Khushnaw said that there were at least two cases of suspected bird flu, both receiving treatment in the Teaching Hospital in as-Sulaymaniyah.
