Danforth Avenue is a east-west route in east Toronto.
In Scarborough, Danforth Road is part of the original road that connects Danforth Avenue with McCowan Road.
Danforth is also home to Toronto's Greek community, also known as Greektown.

ASA DANFORTH, was born at Worcester, Massachusetts, July 6, 1846.
He belonged to the regiment of Col. Danforth Keys, and was engaged in the battle of Lexington.
The official papers of Capt. Danforth were preserved by him to the close of the war, and have since been placed among the archives of the Historical Society, at Worcester, Massachusetts, where they will remain.

Asa Danforth ( 29 June 1768 – 1821 or later) was an American Revolutionary War veteran and leading citizen of Onondaga County, as well as a highway engineer.
He completed the work in a year and the result was named The Dundas Road after a prominent British colonial official.
However, Danforth left disgruntled with the payment and never returned to Canada.

In 1798 Governor Simcoe awarded a contract to Asa Danforth to build a road connecting York (now Toronto) with Kingston.
The Danforth was built a few miles north of Lake Ontario to avoid the swampy river deltas.
This left disconnected pieces of the Danforth scattered about in Toronto, Cobourg, Grafton, etc. Our Cobourg piece was further fragmented when Highway 401 sliced diagonally through it a few decades ago.

I couldn't believe it when I read her description of looking out her window from the summer house they eventually built (called Castle Frank) to see the native's spearing salmon by firelight in the DON RIVER.
Anyway, Toronto (or York as it was known at this time) was fairly isolated from other communities (Kingston, Niagara) and one of the notable accomplishments of the then administrator Peter Russell was the contracting with Asa Danforth on a road that would lead was far as the Bay of Quinte.

The first two men to commercially exploit the salt springs were Asa Danforth and Comfort Tyler, Revolutionary War veterans who settled on land given to them in lieu of salary by the newly formed government of the United States.
