  Tapa Gaccha
Dharmasagara wished to establish the central and unique position of the Tapa Gaccha and he exposed what he thought were flaws in the lives and doctrines of other Jain acaryas and their lineages.
Tapa means 'Ascetism' and the doctrine of the gaccha is an emphasis on the original ancient ascetic values of Jainism.
Because of Jagaccandra's austerities, the king gave him the epithet Tapa, Ascetism, which was then applied to the gaccha.

What is really remarkable with this type of ascetism is especially the contradictory exterior doings which are, in themselves, an encrypted display of clear-sightedness and of their own spiritual experiences, or even symbolical reflections of certain social situations.
The ascetism as a religious phenomenon existed in all religions, although our field of interest is restricted to the monotheist ones.
By far the most interesting form of the foolishness for Christ's sake is to be found in the 13th to 16th centuries in Russia [58], as the "fool" saints canonized by the Russian Church being the most known cases of these type of ascesis [59].

It is not a mosque-based religion, hitting home only on Sundays; nor does it propose ascetism, for leaving the world aside and zoning in on meditation cannot be too terribly difficult.
On the surface there are rituals and there are people that get lost in the rituals, losing the forest for the trees in essence.
If the example of the Prophet is to be followed, however, and remembering that monasticism is not recommended is Islam, the preferable interpretation is that this should be a sense of detachment.
