Ashfield (population 20,700) is a suburb in the Municipality of Ashfield, in the inner-west of Sydney, in the state of New South Wales, Australia.
Travers (1899-1996): Author of five volumes of Mary Poppins stories, she boarded at Normanhurst School beginning in 1912 and later lived with her mother and younger sisters at 17 Pembroke Street.
The railway station was opened in 1855, as part of the original New South Wales Railways Sydney to Parramatta rail line.

Croydon is a suburb in the inner-west of Sydney, in the state of New South Wales, Australia.
On the Sydney-Parramatta rail line, Croydon is a suburb close to the Olympic Games complex at Homebush Bay and to the heart of Sydney, which must certainly rank as one of the greatest cities in the world.
Croydon is within a short drive south of Canterbury Racecourse and, in the opposite direction, it’s a similar distance to Kings and Canada bays on the closest reach of the Parramatta River.

Focal point is Peace Park which occupies the highest point of the Canterbury municipality and straddles the corners of three original land grants which were farmed from the mid-1790s.
The disused brickyard was eventually bought by the NSW Government in 1978 and 15 years later Peace Park, which features a ceremonial paved area flanked by trees symbolising international peace and goodwill, was opened.
