Ashcott Union friendly society, recorded in 1778, was still in existence in 1901 when it held a feast on 29 May, possibly the Ashcott revel mentioned in the 1780s.
Ashcott's position on a major road probably accounted for the number of businesses in the 19th century: 27 households were engaged in trade in 1811.
Ashcott formed part of the Bridgwater poor-law union from 1836, from 1894 was part of Bridgwater rural district, and in 1974 was absorbed into Sedgemoor district.

 Ring O'Bells - Ashcott, Nr Glastonbury, Somerset
The Ring 0’ Bells is an 18th Century Free house pub in the Somerset village of Ashcott (click to see map and directions), which for the last 18 years has been run by the same family partnership of John and Elaine Foreman and Elaine’s brother, John Sharman.
A number of awards have been gained over the years both for the quality of its home-cooked food and for the range and quality of its ales, being elected Somerset CAMRA Pub of the Year in 1998.
The real ales on tap often include one of the beers from local micro-breweries Moor Beer Company (situated near to Ashcott village) or Glastonbury Ales, along with beers from other "micros" in the West Country and elsewhere.

When you reach Ashcott (approx 9 miles from M5) carry straight on through the village until you reach to the Ashcott Inn on your right hand side.
At the Ashcott Inn, turn right into Middle Street and follow it to the T-Junction with the High Street.
Turn left into Middle St and follow it round to the T-Junction with the High St. The pub is on the corner of this junction.

Originally the station platform here was built of timber, but this was later replaced by a pre-fabricated S.R. type structure.
The adjacent station building was built from red brick alongside the road crossing of the Ashcott to Meare road.
Three quarters of a mile to the east of Ashcott station were 'Petfu Sidings', opened in 1920, these served another local peat works.
