Ashley Sampi is probably the biggest question mark to come out of this draft at this point.
Sampi revels in his pre-season fitness to destroy the Magpies single-handedly in the first half with 4 goals and some lightning work in close.
Ashley Hansen is the late bloomer of the 2001 draft but 2005 showed that whilst injury have set him back in terms of his career getting underway, they have in no way diminished the impact a fit Hansen has on the team.

WEST Coast forward Ashley Sampi has credited a Queensland-based researcher on the power of the mind with much of the Eagles' success in the club's first final against Sydney.

Sampi said after the match that at his old school in Perth, Trinity College, "I used to take one every week sort of like that".
Sampi's grab is a worthy candidate for inclusion in a list of the greatest marks taken since arguably the most famous high mark of them all, that of Carlton's Alex Jesaulenko in the second quarter of the 1970 grand final against Collingwood.

Morrison then handballed to Sampi, who found himself in acres of space, and his running goal from 50 metres finished off a brave Bulldogs side, who it must be said still look shaky in defence although their new-look forward line – with Rawlings as the focus – looks capable of troubling most sides.

 Ashley Sampi
The auspicious debut of former star junior footballer Ashley Sampi was one of the few bright spots for West Coast supporters on what was an otherwise dismal night for the crowd of 17,000 that flocked to Subiaco Oval for the pre-season clash between West Coast and Richmond.
Taken at No. 6 in the 2001 AFL draft by West Coast with its second pick, Sampi's natural skill shone through despite his inexperience when he swooped on a loose ball at half-forward and kicked a great goal during time on in the second quarter.
The lightning reflexes and intuitive football prowess that Sampi displayed was reminiscent of another former great West Coast player to wear the No.28 jersey in Chris Lewis.

High-flying West Coast forward Ashley Sampi could pay the cruellest price for his team's misfiring form entering the finals, with coach John Worsfold admitting the 21-year-old's place in the team is under pressure.
As the former flag favourites stumbled into the finals series with an eight-point loss against Adelaide on Saturday, Sampi's lack of impact was matched by his slim statistics, with one kick, one handball and no goals.
With just four goals in his past six games, and West Coast having scored just 15 majors in their past two games, Worsfold said Sampi was nowhere near his best going into the Friday night showdown with Sydney.
