The Coburg Cricket Club is one of the oldest sporting clubs in Victoria and as such this chronology is an attempt to review its extensive history.
The Coburg Cricket Club was founded in 1856, when this country was in its infancy, before Federation was even contemplated, a time when there was - "gold in them there hills" - and cricket was an integral part of the Australian psyche.
Club is drained of players for service in the Great War in Europe including future President H.J. Silverthorne who, in correspondence, described his time of service at Gallipoli as "full and hard work".

Phoenix Cricket Club is the oldest in Ireland and one of the oldest in the world, being formed in 1830 some five years before Dublin University Cricket Club.
The only honours the club received during the 60's was David Pigot winning the Marchant Cup with an average of 65, the 4th XI the Junior Cup in 1964 and 1968 and the 2nd XI the Senior II League in 1965.
Central to these sucesses are a strong backbone of competitive cricketers including Jono Atkinson (captain of the 1st XI in 2000), Hendy Wallace (club pro for 2000 and 2001), Jeremy Bray (prolific runscorer and multiple winner of the Marchant Cup) and D Pigot, the fourth generation Pigot to play for the club.

Ashton got off to a strong start with Captain Rose leading the way.
However a good all-round effort saw Ashton all out for 138 in only the 36th over.

The following fortnight was a complete washout with no cricket played, I escaped to France and Jon Wrapson took charge of our next game against Addlestone.

As a batsman, cricket can be a frustrating game; my view from the experience I have gained is that in order to be considered a good player you have to contribute on a regular basis.
We can be a club who enjoys our cricket, has a laugh and a few beers and will probably still be in division two in ten years time, or we can start thinking about the game in greater detail, preparing better and contributing more consistently which I believe will result in us challenging for promotion.
The Club is actively working towards ClubMark accreditation which is a national standard of excellence essentially concerned with junior cricket and the safety and care of children at the Club.

Hindley St. Peter's Cricket Club was established shortly after the First World War by and for the men of St. Peter's Church.
After a short-lived foray into Sunday cricket in 2000, the Club re-joined the Sunday Section of the West Lancashire League in 2003 with a stated policy of using the Sunday XI to develop junior cricketers.
Saturday cricket in the West Lancashire League became a thing of the past at the end of the 2004 season, as a shortage of clubs forced the Saturday Section to call it a day after 97 years.

Gary Southworth is producing a list of Dalton players who have won Club awards (batting, bowling, player of the year) for the 3 senior Saturday teams for 2000-2004.
A subsequent 51 stand was broken by a Gossage catch off Richy Frost (1-23), and as Ashton attempted to reach the target, three run outs eventually curtailed their final score to 201-9, a 19 run Dalton victory.
The Club would like to thank opposition officers, players and supporters for their contribution towards such an enjoyable and successful tour, probably the first that (a) a Dalton CC tour side has scored over 200 on the 3 days, and (b) that the ‘Tour Duck’ has not been claimed.

On a beautiful day, Long Ashton won the toss and chose to bat first on a dry pitch.
Their accurate bowling backed up by good fielding including three excellent catches from veteran wicketkeeper Richard Hughes saw Long Ashton bowled out for just 125.
The build up of pressure from the tidy Long Ashton bowlers soon told as both openers and last weeks hero and captain Simon Westbrook were back in the pavilion with just 19 on the board after 11 overs.
